Open Stand Model

Open Stand Model (OSM) is an open-source software project that allows stand model developers to rapidly design alternate tree list models in different regions or for different modeling purposes using a common (abstract) object model. OSM is not a stand model per say, but a framework for designing stand models.

Regional models implement this abstract framework to project custom stand dynamics from one simulation iteration to the next. OSM takes care of loading stands and trees, user interaction with the model via commands, writing reports, and more. This allows regional biometricians to focus more on model calibration and less on software development.

On the user side, all derived OSM variant models can be dynamically linked to and controlled by separate third-party applications that interface OSM. OSM variant models can also be commonly controlled using OSM command files from DOS.
